Environmental Statement

This statement is valid from October 2006 until October 2007

Introduction

Our objective at Ever Ready Recycling is to carry out and maintain a feasible and practical method of recycling and re-use of mobile phone handsets in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) which will take effect from July 2007. The current environmental and green issues that have arisen influence the direction in which our company is heading. We have a complete operational system in place to support our recycling activity with clear goals and objectives. We will report our statement of environmental performance at the end of each fiscal year and we welcome any questions regarding our policies.

Our Company

Ever Ready Recycling are established phone refurbishing and recycling specialists. We provide an all-inclusive resolution for the discarding of old and new mobile handsets. This includes free collection, evaluation and safe disposal of any faulty handsets.

Our Environmental Testimonial

Through our operational recycling and re-use systems, Ever Ready aims to lessen the production of pollution released into the environment. As a company we accept that all business activity contributes towards pollution. We therefore acknowledge that we have a duty to ensure the correct recycling processes are maintained, as well as a responsibility to the companies with whom we have a business affiliation. A copy of our testimonial is available on request.

Impact on waste electrical and electronic devices on the environment.

As of 1st July 2007, the EU’s new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) will take effect in the UK which will recognise all manufacturers of mobile phones to be responsible for their electronic waste and recycling. The purpose of the directive is to place responsibility on the manufacturers to dispose of electrical waste in the correct way.

Mobile phones contain a number of dangerous substances including Lead Solder, Cadmium and Palladium. These metals are completely harmless unless they end up in a landfill site where they may break down and leak, causing further environmental issues and concerns.

Mobile Phone Recycling and Re-use

Ever Ready has invested in the development of processes and guidelines ensuring full compliance with legal and client specific requirements.

This audit trail includes:

  • The separation of phones by manufacturer and model

  • Full assessment and refurbishment process

  • Destination where mobile phones will be re-used

  • Destination where mobile phones will be recycled

Objectives and Targets 2007/8

We aim to continue to re-sell and recycle all mobile handsets which are dealt with by Ever Ready Recycling.

Our toner and ink cartridges recycling schemes will be set in motion over the next 12 to 18 months.
